The journey from registration to offer
Almost every campus drive follows the same path. Knowing it removes most of the fear, because you always know what comes next.
- Eligibility and registration. Your placement cell publishes the rules: minimum CGPA or percentage, backlog limits and branches allowed. Register on time and keep your documents ready.
- Pre-placement talk. The company explains the role, location, salary range and bond or service agreement if any. Listen carefully: this is where you learn the real hiring pattern.
- Online assessment. Usually the first filter and the one that removes most candidates. It tests aptitude, reasoning, English and sometimes programming.
- Technical interview. Your projects, programming basics and core computer science subjects.
- HR interview. Communication, attitude, relocation and career goals.
- Offer and onboarding. The offer letter, joining date and documents.
Three kinds of recruiters
- Mass recruiters hire hundreds of freshers and rely heavily on the online assessment. Accuracy and speed in aptitude matter most.
- Product and startup companies hire fewer people and go deeper into coding and problem solving.
- Core and government-linked employers weigh subject knowledge and written exams.
When to start
Start four to eight weeks before the first drive. Preparation is not about studying more hours in one night. It is about short, regular practice on the topics that every company tests.
The students who get offers are rarely the smartest in the room. They are the ones who practised the test format before the test day.
