For: Administrator Reviewed 15 October 2026
On workspaces that bill per attempt, starting an attempt holds credits for it. The hold is in place before the candidate sees a question.
| Situation | What happens |
|---|---|
| Candidate starts an attempt | 1 credit is held, and a proctored exam holds one more |
| Reload or second tab | The open attempt resumes; no second charge |
| Candidate submits, or time expires with an answer saved | The hold is consumed |
| Time expires with no saved answer | The credit is returned automatically |
| Another attempt is allowed | A new attempt, a new credit |
| No credit left | The attempt cannot start |
